Elliot Greenstone is a partner in the Montréal office specializing in corporate, commercial and securities law. Elliot has been involved in a number of transactions with both public and private companies including debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and collaborations. Elliot also regularly advises clients in the high-tech and life science industries regarding their licensing, distribution and product development needs.
Most recently, Elliot has acted for CryoCath Technologies Inc. in connection with its $400 million take-over by the Medtronic and in connection with the sale of its surgical portfolio of products to ATS Medical, Inc., for the special committee of St. Lawrence Cement Group Inc. in connection with its $681 million acquisition by the Holcim Group, for Epicor Software Corporation, in connection with its US$322 million acquisition of NSB Retail Systems PLC and for La Senza in connection with its acquisition for $710 million by Limited Brands. Elliot has also recently been actively involved in $18 million and $20 million public offerings by CryoCath and MethylGene, respectively, as well as an initial public offering and subsequent offerings of BTB Real Estate Investment Trust, Investus Real Estate and Capital BLF, the sale by a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec of its interests in hydro generation and transmission companies in Panama and the public offering by Cogeco Cable of approximately $200 million of subordinate voting shares where he acted for the syndicate of underwriters.
Elliot’s non-law related publications include “Therapeutic Interventions Aimed at Reducing Airway Smooth Muscle Growth”, published in the
Monaldi Archives for Chest Disease as well as “Retention Strategies in Aerospace Turnover: A Case Study”, published in
Career Development International.
Elliot was called to the Quebec Bar in 2003 and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Lord Reading Law Society. He has served as a return guest lecturer at the John Molson School of Business, teaching a class on the protection of intellectual property in commercial transactions to undergraduate and M.B.A. students. Elliot is a member of the firm’s student recruitment committee and is the co-President of the Montreal Jewish Chamber of Commerce.
Elliot graduated with a B.Sc. (with Distinction) in Physiology from McGill University in 1997 and received his M.Sc. in Physiology from the same institution in 1999. He obtained his M.B.A. from the John Molson School of Business (Concordia University) in 2002 while simultaneously completing his LL.B. studies at the Université de Montréal where he received the Leger Robic Richard, Excellence in Intellectual Property Award. Elliot became a partner in 2007.
